UMVRDC will meet

The Upper Minnesota Valley Regional Development Commission (UMVRDC) will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Civic Center in Appleton. The public meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The Minneota Mascot - Stuart Stiffey, who made a stop in Minneota during his 4,500 mile bicycle journey, arrived at his home in Woodstock, N.Y., around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 4. Stiffey, 65, a part-time veterinarian, traveled from British Columbia to Woodstock in 80 days. He stopped in Minneota on Aug.

Busy day for Canby fire

On Thursday morning the Canby Fire Department responded to the report of a vehicle that had left the road and entered a corn field north of Canby in Lac Qui Parle County.

The driver was transported to Sanford Canby and the vehicle was recovered from the field.
