Greetings from the Capitol, where it is “omnibus season” in the House. Most of our time is being spent in committee meetings where the majority is moving bill packages through the process that will shape our state’s next two-year budget.

Kase Jacobs, APRN, CNP, recently joined Sanford Canby Clinic as a family medicine provider.
He specializes in care for children and adults, including annual preventive care exams, family medicine and emergency medicine.
On Wednesday, April 12, the Canby Chamber of Commerce met at P.K. Egans.Treasurer Craig Kaddatz updated the members with 2023 membership status. As of now there are 57 members that joined or renewed their membership. Kaddatz said there are a couple members that normally renew that have not and suggested reaching out individually.
The Upper Minnesota Valley Regional Development Commission (UMVRDC) will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 25, at the Civic Center in Appleton. The public meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Clear Lake, S.D. - Deuel County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched for a 14-passenger school bus that rolled onto its side. The nine children on the Deuel short bus were taken to a local farmer’s heated shop while waiting to be transported from the scene. The bus was southbound on 471st Ave.
The rain was falling along with the temperates as the Canby City Council met on Wednesday, April 4.
Fire Chief Derrick Ruether was present to discuss the Fire Department Dryer Grant.
The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust has granted $139,000 to Sanford Canby Medical Center to purchase the GE Logiq E10s Ultrasound machine as part of a $26.4 million ultrasound initiative in Minnesota.
