Lucy Ann Sheik was born in Tyler, MN, and was raised in Ivanhoe by her parents, Herman and Frances (Cullen) Thomsen. She graduated from Ivanhoe High School in 1972.

On September 9, 1972, Lucy was united in marriage to Ron Sheik at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. To this union, they were blessed with four children. Their life was adventurous, starting in Minnesota, moving to Pennsylvania, Iowa, South Dakota and retiring where home always was, back in Ivanhoe, MN. Being a natural born caregiver, Lucy provided many families with countless years of daycare in her home, followed by many more with CCNI. After moving from Minnesota, she found a passion in caring and cleaning for the elderly and disabled, which she did for the balance of her working years.

Lucy enjoyed golfing, RVing, boating, taking vacations and going on cruises. The highlight of her retirement was a skydiving adventure in Arizona at the age of 65, but nothing compared to the time she spent with her family and especially with her grandchildren playing cards and bean bags. She will be remembered for being an excellent cook and an animal lover, especially dogs. She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and in every community she lived, she was very active in the church, volunteering wherever she could.

Grateful for having shared Lucy’s life is her husband and best friend of 48 years, Ron Sheik of Ivanhoe; her children, Ryan (Kellee) Sheik of Fredonia, WI, Brady (Lisa) Sheik of Meadville, PA, and Kelli (Josh) Millin of Conneaut Lake, PA; four grandchildren, Kaden and Tanner Sheik and Mya and Ty Sheik; one brother, Emmett (Ann) Thomsen; and a herd of Sheiks, plus a vast number of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of close cherished friends.

She is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Bridget Ann Sheik; her parents, Herman and Frances Thomsen; and her in-laws, Alvin and Arvilla Sik.
