Marlys Livingston

Marlys DeVonne Livingston, age 89, of Richfield, MN, passed away August 31, 2021, at her home in Richfield, MN. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN, with Rev. Levi Bollerud officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Canby, MN. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN, is entrusted with the arrangements.

Marlys, “Molly” to her family, was born on May 26, 1932, on a farm a few miles east of her folks’ home place. Gus and Alice farmed east of Canby and had eight children in all. Marlys always said her long fingernails were her best defense in her schooldays that started in a one-room schoolhouse. She met her husband, Bill Livingston, in Canby, and they had three children before Bill became an electrician at Ford Motor Co. in St. Paul. They bought their house in Richfield, which is still in the family nearly 60 years later. Molly especially enjoyed the backyard pear tree, peony garden, trumpet vine and rhubarb patch.

She longed for the wide horizons of the country and loved going for a good long drive anywhere.

Marlys was a survivor of breast cancer for nearly 20 years. Marlys is survived by her three children, Vicky, Jon and Jeff; and one brother, Ronald.

She was preceded in death by Adeline (Rothballer), Theodore, Willis, Vivian (Van Dorin), James, Eveleth (Kack).
