Michael Hanson
Michael Robert Hanson, age 46, of Canby, MN, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Canby, MN, with Rev. Levi Bollerud officiating. Burial will be at the Canby City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5–7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22nd, at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN, and will resume Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Michael Robert Hanson was born on July 22, 1975, in Canby, MN, to Robert and Marnell (Pederson) Hanson. He was baptized at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Canby, MN. He attended elementary and high school in Canby and graduated in 1994.
Following graduation, Mike went to work for Heartland Turkey Plant in Marshall and later in Montevideo. Mike worked there until the plant closed.
He then went to work at DAC in Canby, After a short time, he transferred to Mentor Network, where he was working until the time of his illness.
Mike was an easy going guy who enjoyed watching and attending WWE wrestling events, Minnesota Vikings and Twins games, and could often be found sitting at the nearest BINGO table.
The most important thing to Mike was spending time with family and friends. He was especially proud of his beloved godson, Emmett.
“Tootie Bear” (his well known nickname) will be missed by many.
Grateful for having shared his life are his sister, Denise, who loved him dearly; his beloved godson, Emmett; and many other relatives.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marnell, and both maternal and paternal grandparents. Blessed be his memory.
