Mildred Nevins

Mildred “Tut” Arlene Nevins, age 96, of Clear Lake, S.D., passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the Sanford Clear Lake Medical Center in Clear Lake. Per Mildred’s wishes there will be a private burial at the Swedish Mission Covenant Cemetery, rural Astoria, SD. Houseman Funeral Home in Clear Lake, S.D., is entrusted with the arrangements.

Mildred “Tut” Arlene Nevins was born at home near Brandt, S.D., on May 10, 1925, to Wilford and Stella (Denny) Ronne. Mildred was united in marriage to Everett on December 3, 1943, and the couple had two children. They farmed by Canby, MN, until 1962 and then moved to Astoria, S.D., and worked at the Astoria Café and at Swifts in Marshall, MN. In the 1970’s they moved to Clear Lake, S.D., where she worked at the Deuel County Memorial Hospital for over 20 years. Mildred was a hard worker her entire life.

Mildred loved to bake and go to auctions and rummage sales. During their retirement, they were known to take a daily trip for breakfast to the Brandt Café.

She will be greatly missed and survived by her husband, Everett Nevins; two children, Kenny (Brenda) Nevins and Judy (Bob) Sapp; granddaughter, Jennifer (Joe) Huelskamp; two great-grandsons, Caleb and Dylan Huelskamp; and her two cats, Buster and Punkin; one brother, Lyle Ronne; sister, Marlene Lacek; brother-in-law, Henry Fairchild; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Darlene Kluckman and Renee Norton.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Lorraine Benck, Wally Ronne, Raymond Ronne, and Darlene Fairchild; brothers-in-law, Bert Hoseck, Danny Lacek, and Walter Benck; and sisters-in-law, Doris Ronne, Vivian Ronne, and Verna Hoseck.
