Fokken was born on June 9, 1941, to Bernhard and Fanny (Knoblauch) Fokken in Canby, MN.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Zacheus Lutheran Church in Canby. After the death of his mother, he was cared for by William and Minnie Richter for five years until his father married Emma Zell.

Paul attended and graduated from Canby High School in 1961. He began farming with his brother, Erich, near Burr, MN. They farmed together for many years until they both retired. He raised hogs, grew corn, small grain and soybeans, and enjoyed working the land. Along with his brother and other friends, he was a frequent attendee at area singles dances, and it was at one of these that he met his future wife.

On August 1, 1992, Paul was united in marriage to Judy Marie Serreyn at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Canby. The couple made their home on an acreage south of Burr. In retirement, Paul enjoyed traveling with the Larry Olsen Band, attending dances, riding his 4-wheeler, watching westerns on TV and, most of all, reading his Bible every day. He appreciated friends and family and always offered a cold beer whenever someone dropped in.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Fokken of Canby, MN; brothers, Bernhard (Heidi) Fokken of Plymouth, MN, Menno (Lucille) Fokken of Canby, MN, Erich (Celina) Fokken of Canby, MN, and Theodore (Bonnie) Fokken of St. Louis Park, MN; and nephews and nieces, Gary (Vivian) Fokken, Lyle (Guy) Fokken, Mark Fokken, Ryan Fokken, Sara (Corey) Stoks, Susan (Steve) Charlier, Stacey (Shawn) Harding, Todd (Trish) Fokken and Rita (Tim) Lambrecht.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Bernhard Fokken; mother, Fanny Fokken; step-mother, Emma Fokken; step-brother, Gert Zell; niece, Gail Fokken; and nephew, Steven Fokken. Blessed be his memory.
