Roger Peterson

Roger Paul Peterson, 67, Canby, Minn., died Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minn. Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson, Minn., followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment will be in the Benson City Cemetery.

Roger Paul Peterson was born on April 6, 1957, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of Edwin and Alida (Jacobson) Peterson. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minn., and confirmed at Sunburg Free Lutheran Church.
Roger grew up on a small farm northeast of Sunburg, Minn., and graduated from Brooten High School in 1975. 
Roger developed a love of welding and quickly became proficient at it. He then worked at Tyler Industries in Benson as a welder for years.
Throughout the years, Roger enjoyed muscle cars, going to the races, spending time with family, caring for animals, hauling scrap iron/junking cars and listening to loud rock music (especially on vinyl records.)
Roger is survived by his brother, Bruce (Colleen) Peterson of Brooten; daughters, Jolene (Steven) Spanier of Belgrade, Jennifer (Tony) Levitz of Florida, Kari Ann (Phillip Houchin) Peterson of Raymond; stepsons, Jeremy (Jennifer Doll) Bailey of Madison and Justin (Amber Johnson) Bailey of Starbuck; many loving grandchildren (adoptive, foster, and biological); his special friend, Sally Peterson of Benson; and his BEST canine friends, Clyde and Carla.
Preceding Roger in death were his parents, Edwin and Alida (Jacobson) Peterson; and sister, Marjorie Pierotti of Coon Rapids.
