Save Our Sanity

The other weekend, the kids and I were in Brookings, and we were hungry. I let the girls decide where they wanted to grab lunch, and they chose McDonald’s, not my favorite. Honestly, not even top ten. I have never eaten at McDonald's and said to myself, “I am both satisfied and I feel great!” after eating there.

Excuse me, I’m looking for all this summertime that’s flown by…I can’t seem to find it. Can you believe that it’s July already? Our big plans of at least visiting the local lake once or twice so far has not happened yet. We’ve been at ball games, spent a few evenings at the pool, had a bonfire here, but done nothing at the lake. What a bummer.

So… embarrassing fact, my screen time has gotten out of control. I know that it started with breastfeeding (that is a lot of time just sitting, most often, by myself, and bored) but it has now gotten to be a habit where I pick up my phone more often than I am comfortable with.

They say the company you keep dictates your behavior, and we all know that to be true. I feel that the same can be said for what you watch, listen to, follow on social media, etc. I really like following people who seem to have the same goals as I do when it comes to homemaking, and watching documentaries that kind of “spur me to action’.

What a wonderful town is Canby!  I was in Canby last weekend for the 60th reunion of Class of 1963. (have never attended before as I have been away from MN). What a great time we had.  Wonderful Canby Inn Suites, could not be nicer; front desk, cooks and the maintenance people.

Kudos to Canby and the Hat Days Committee! The Class of 1963 held their 60th reunion during Hat Days with 62 in attendance. Most of the class took part in some of the Hat Days activities. It was so much fun listening to them talk about how impressed they were with Canby and the celebration.

Save Our Sanity

We recently had an anonymous letter sent to our office calling me out for being naive and making the Canby News something people laugh at.  That we didn’t check the facts and that we owe everyone an apology.

If you read this little diddy last week, you know I was going to implement a “one of everything” rule. Each member of the family now only has one plate, one bowl, one knife, one fork, one spoon, and one cup. It may sound insane, and that was my initial thought, but holy Hannah, it is a game changer! I am in love with this system.
