Paraprofessional Recognition Week

Paraprofessionals provide services in a number of different settings within Canby High School. Our paraprofessionals offer support for instruction, for individual students, for student activities, and for countless other tasks that contribute to the educational success of our students and school.

Canby High School

Senior Gavin Maynard was nominated by the English department as the school’s student of the week. He is the son of Matt and Trish Maynard.

“Gavin is fun to have in class and he is very pleasant. Gavin completes his work in a timely manner and is always interested in all aspects of English,” the department said.

Canby Elementary School

Joan Sween, originally from Detroit Lakes, is a paraprofessional at Canby Elementary School.  She is married to Rick and has one three sons, Brian, Jordan, and Mike, one step-son, Landin, two step-daughters, Amber and Misty, and six grandkids.

Artists of the Month

St. Peter’s School artists of the month for December were (L-R) Bexley Pesek (Kindergarten), Grant Schrunk (second grade), Leo Peterson (third grade) and Amira VanWyk (fifth grade). They created advent projects with oil pastels, 3-D, sponge painting, patterns, and watercolor salt technique  

Ipads and Art

Jennifer Ufkin and her art III students shared their knowledge of digital art on January 12 during the Minnesota School Board Association Conference which was held at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
