Zoe Birk was the winner of the Canby Public School’s spelling bee contest held on Jan. 18 at the Canby Elementary School. She will go on to compete in Redwood Falls on Feb. 1.

The Canby elementary and high school were in for a culinary treat this past week with a visit from Chef Christopher Murray.

The following students were named to the dean’s/honors lists at the colleges they attend. Typical requirements for dean’s list honors include taking at least 12 credits for the semester and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, though requirements may vary by college.

Senior Aaron Bueltel was nominated by the English department as the school’s student of the week. He is the son of Rick and Tricia Bueltel.

“Aaron is a joy to have in class. He is very dedicated to get his work done and is always interested with his research,” the department said.
