The 57th annual Lake Area Technical College graduation ceremony was held May 10 with 806 graduates.
The following local students were presented their diplomas:
Agriculture:
• Max Abrahamson, Canby
• Morgan Moorse, Minneota
• Kade Lozinski, Minneota
Automotive Technology:
Minnesota West announced the Fall 2024 scholarship recipients on May 29, and McKenzie Tolk of Minnesota found herself on the list.
Tolk is majoring in Practical Nursing and pre-nursing Individualized Studies and was awarded a Collegewide Foundation Scholarship and a Workforce Development Scholarship.
On April 30, the Canby Elementary sixth grade students visited the Minnesota History Center (below) and the Minnesota State Capitol.
Seventh Grade - Daniel Ferguson, Sophia Full, Jasmine Grengs, Andols Hacker, Aaliyah LaBelle, Blayre Mead and Bailee Smith
Eighth Grade - Briar Doom, Landon Meyer-Thovson, Mason Theisen and Dylan Wilson
Ninth Grade - Will Abrahamson, Kendon Knutson and Taylor Ourada
Kindergarten - Stella Bliss, Ambrose Callens, Kolt Carlson, Harrison Citrowske, Layne Drietz, Aspen Hoffmann, Cora Kraft, Maeley Wollum
Tylee Groenhoff of Canby was named to the University of Sioux Falls Spring 2024 Dean's List.
The Canby School Board met on Monday. There were no action items.
Superintendent Ryan Nielsen gave a quick legislative update.

Canby VFW Auxiliary members presented the kindergarten class at St. Peter’s School with certificates on May 8 for learning the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Class of 2024 celebrated their graduation May 17 at the Canby High School. There will be a special graduation section insert in the May 28 Canby News.
