Minneota/Canby ran into a juggernaut in the opening round of section softball playoffs Tuesday in Luverne, getting bested by Jackson County Central 16-1.

The Vikings struggled mightily in a game that lasted just 3.5 innings, getting no-hit while committing seven errors.

Canby and Ortonville exploded for 29 hits Tuesday, but the Lancers weren’t able to convert theirs into runs in a 14-5 home loss.

The Trojans were on fire at the dish, racking up 11 runs through the first three innings.

Kara Rangaard takes fifth earning All-Conference

Kara Rangaard took fifth place and earned All-Conference honors for the Canby girls’ golf team at the Camden Conference championship Monday, May 15, at Marshall Golf Club.

Rangaard shot a 91, finishing 12 strokes off the lead as she grabbed a top five finish and All Conference medal.

Vikings split week defeating MACCRAY, falling to KMS

The Minneota/Canby softball team kept fans on the edge of their seats sending both of their games into extra innings this week. They were able to pull ahead of MACCRAY by three in the 8th Monday but stayed just behind KMS taking the one run loss Tuesday.

Jason Best took the lead to start the Pure Stock feature. After leading the first few laps, Coltyn Schuler took over the lead and went to win his first feature at Fiesta City Speedway.

Shane DeJong led the entire WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature for his first win of the year.

Lancers’ baseball drop three more games by double digits

The Lancers just can’t get things to fall their way, losing to YME and Lakeview on the road and MACCRAY at home last week.

They will do their best to remedy this tonight against Ortonville at home starting at 4:30 p.m. before section play begins Saturday.
