Commitment

Darold Snortnum has been maintaining Central Park’s flower bed since 1947. In 1946, Snortum  returned home from the Navy. Snortum father, Randolph Snortnum, was in the greenhouse business with Snortnum’s Nursery. In 1947, Darold decided to get in the business and started Central Park’s flower bed.


The 2021 graduation was held Friday at the Canby High School. A special edition will be in the June 1 Canby News edition.

School board approves 1:1 technology initiative, capital outlay expenditures

During their May 17 meeting, the Canby School Board approved a technology purchase that will bring the district to its goal of a device for each student. They also approved capital outlay expenditures for FY22.

City council approves final steps toward fire truck purchase, hears more about body cams, infrastructure punch list

During the May 19 meeting, the Canby City Council approved signing the loan documents for the purchase of the new fire truck. They also reviewed more information regarding body cams for the Police Department as well as an update on the infrastructure punchlist.

When I started researching homeschool, I found out there are way more styles and methods than I ever imagined. You don’t just homeschool, you unschool, wildschool or roadschool, you’re classical or eclectic, Montessori or Charlotte Mason or Waldorf, you use unit studies or are more traditional.

Memorial Day is this weekend. What is your first thought when you hear that? Three day weekend? The start of summer? I really hope we all think of more than that on Memorial Day.

Since I think the younger generations, myself included, are losing touch with what this holiday really is, here is a little history about it:

Dana Yost has had seven books published to date, but none had more meaning than the most recent one, a collaborative effort with his son, Luke.  The book entitled “From My Porch” centers on six topics that include several photos taken by Luke, as well as poems from Dana that pertain to the particular topics.
