Brenda Carlson keeps Boer goat breeding legacy alive at Carlson’s Pinecrest Farm

With names like Violet, Jasmine, and Rose you’d think Brenda Calrson of rural Dawson was planting a flower garden, but that isn’t the case. Carlson, a nurse by trade, raises registered Boer goats as breeding stock. The Boer is primarily a meat goat known for their rapid weight gain and docility.

Canby Area Arts Council

It’s not surprising that April is National Humor Month. It’s also National Garden Month, Jazz Appreciation Month, and Poetry Month. Consider donating unwanted garden catalogs to local preschools and daycare centers. Using scissors and identifying colors reinforce many skills that young learners are working to master.

Area History

This week I will again write about happenings of 1920. I have been reading and/or studying the 1920 book of the Canby News for some time now. There are so many interesting things that happened that year. The Canby Depot Museum has copies of old Canby News newspapers from the late 1890s to the early 2000s.
