Looking Back

From Oct 1953 - These blood-curdling characters picked at random, will give you an idea why the first grade Halloween party in the Fireside room of Our Saviour’s Lutheran church was no place for anyone with a weak heart. There were ghosts, witches, black cats, and other horrible creatures all over the place.

Prairie Lives

We have been learning about Mike Davis and his Vietnam service. Mike graduated from Sanborn High School in 1967 and was drafted in 1969. He completed his training and the Army deployed him to Vietnam in April 1970.

Canby Area Arts Council

November, in this space between fall and winter, we pause a moment to reflect on our blessings and say a “thank you” to those who have helped us along our way.  The CAAC would like to thank our members and the community who support our events and programs.

Area History

I thought this week I would investigate the first year after the Armistice ending World War 1 (aka: the Great War) on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918.  I thought there might be some very interesting events that day.  I was somewhat surprised that I didn’t find what I had anticipated.
