Ask a Trooper

Minnesota law states that a person shall have their driver license (DL) in immediate possession when operating a motor vehicle and show it when a law enforcement officer requests it. It is important to have your DL in your possession if you are involved in a crash, we are able to identify you and make contact with your family.

Barbara Mack inducted into the Minnesota Aviation Hall of Fame

Barbara Mack was inducted into the Minnesota Aviation Hall of Fame April 1, 2023.

It was the 33rd Annual Induction Ceremony held by the Minnesota Aviation Hall of Fame. It was held at the Mystic Lake Casino Conference Room in Prior Lake. This annual event is normally held in April each year.

Question: Now that motorcycle season is here can you talk about motorcycle operators must “wear” eye protection. Windshields haven’t been considered legal eye protection for many years.

Answer: You are correct. No person shall operate a motorcycle without wearing an eye-protective device.

Area History

Last week I started a series on the MECCA House, also known as the Lund-Hoel House, in Canby. This house was built by John Lund in 1891 and had two major additions built in 1896 and 1900. The stone fence was built in 1900.

Prairie Lives

We have begun learning about Porter’s Dan Dybsetter and his Vietnam service. Dan was born in 1945 to Paul and Adelia (Olson) Dybsetter, the middle of three siblings, and grew up on the family farm west of Porter.

Rotary of Canby

Canby High School graduate, Joey Hiedeman, aka Mr. SDSU, spoke about his first two years at South Dakota State University during the July 13 Rotary of Canby meeting. Hiedeman dreamt of being a Jackrabbit from a young age and is making the most of it now that he is one.
