Canby Area Arts Council held intro to watercolor class

On Thursday, June 8, Canby Area Arts Council presented an Intro to Watercolor Painting Class at the Canby Community Center. Artists of various ages gathered to learn how to manipulate watercolor paints on watercolor paper as teaching artist Angie Guptill introduced the concepts of blending and painting with watercolors.

Ask a Trooper

Question: Now that spring is finally here I am seeing a lot of tractors, sprayers and other large equipment on the highways. A number of them didn’t appear to be using their flashing lights, slow moving signs, or escort when required. I am concerned this could cause a bad crash.

Holy Carp

Cayden Anderson said he loves catch and release after reeling in a 30+ inch, 15+ pound carp at Lake Sylvan June 4. Anderson stated he didn’t care what he caught; it’s all about the fight in the fish.

Looking Back

From May 1973 - The “Explosion & Flames” at Russ Christianson’s bulk plant was the talk of the town a week ago Tuesday. It wasn’t an explosion, but it was dangerous as anhydrous ammonia filled the air with a milky white gas that was blown to the south of Canby and escaped hitting town.
