At the Aug. 3 Canby City Council meeting, the council was presented information about Canby’s new polic officer, discussed national advertising at the local theater , and approved Dairy Queen’s new signage.
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is notifying Minnesotans that changes to the cottage food law went into effect on Aug. 1. Key changes to the law include:
- Registered cottage food producers can now make and sell pet treats (dogs and cats only), provided certain conditions are met.
The Upper Minnesota Valley Regional Development Commission (UMVRDC) board will be holding its regular meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 24, at the VFW in Appleton. The public meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.
After serving Minneota and its surrounding communities for the past 11 years, Dr. Stephanie Vlaminck and her family will be moving to Hawaii. Her final day with patients will be Aug. 18. Based on the average weekly number, Vlaminck has had around 45,000 patient visits over her 11 years.
The Tracy Fire Department and Tracy Ambulance were called to a car fire at 5:54 a.m. on July 25, on U.S. Highway 59, about one mile north of Garvin Corner. The driver of the vehicle, Ashley Gomez of Tracy, said she hit a deer, and the headlight at the point of impact started on fire.
The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Department, assisted by Canby Police Department and Minnesota State Patrol, found and arrested Kyle Olson without incident at Tower Motel on Thursday. Olson had a felony warrant out for his arrest for false imprisonment - intentional restraint and assault 5th degree - gross misdemeanor.
A quiet night on the green was interrupted in a big way the evening of July 26, when a 2010 International semi left the road, entered the ditch and ended up settling just off the no. 9 green at the Tracy Country Club. The semi was headed east on Highway 14 when it left the road shortly before 7:20 p.m.
