The Appleton Press - A new event approved for the Appleton Off-Highway Vehicle Park will likely draw a large crowd to the area next spring. “Hare scrambles are basically cross-country dirt biking,” Parks, Drainage, and Wetlands Technician Devon Savage told the Swift County Board of Commissioners at their Sept. 5 meeting.

Vandalism

The Canby Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in locating/identifying the individual(s) responsible for vandalizing the Central Park bathrooms. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Chief Josh Walker at (507) 223-7211. All park restrooms will be closed.

The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man whose body was found in Montevideo Monday morning. The cause of death of Mitchell Bruce Twite, 69, remains undetermined. A postal worker found Twite’s body in a grassy area next to the post office parking lot in the 300 block of 1st Street. He had a stab wound.

At the most recent School District 2180 School Board meeting, held Sept. 11, the board passed three resolutions to secure funds to be used for the new athletic field complex that will be put in at the Clara City campus. The total amount being secured is $4,670,000.

Police chief AJ Anderson opened last week’s regular monthly meeting of the Tyler City Council by introducing new Lincoln County Sheriff Bob Bushman. “We are all excited to have him here,” Anderson said. Bushman told the council that he grew up in Lake Benton and still has relatives living in the city.
