The Canby Fire Department was called to the report of a small grass fire north of Canby in Lac qui Parle County. The fire was accidently ignited when the landowner was mowing. The fire was quickly extinguished and the Canby Fire Department returned to service. Assisting at the scene was the Sanford Canby Ambulance.
The Upper Minnesota Valley Regional Development Commission (UMVRDC) will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Appleton Civic Center. The public meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

School may not be starting until Sept. 11 for Tracy Area Public Schools due to the two-year construction project, but, the project is moving along and the school will begin hosting events this week, TAPS Supt. Chad Anderson said during the regular school board meeting Monday night.
