Edwin Fairchild

Edwin Fairchild, age 79, of Canby, Minn., passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022, at his home near Canby. Memorial service took place on Thursday, September 8, at the Houseman Funeral Home in Canby with Pastor Nick Alfaro officiating. Burial with a graveside service ocurred Friday, September 9, at the Fagernes Lutheran Cemetery in Blair, Wis.

Edwin Fairchild was born March 23, 1943, in Canby, Minn., to parents Mark and Annie (Christianson) Fairchild. He was raised on the Canby farm with his brothers and sisters Evelyn, Ivan, Daniel, Lester, Theodore, Henry, Pearl, Nina, and June. He served in the National Guard.

He married Mary Ann Moe Nov 12, 1966, at the Fagernes Lutheran Church in Blair, Wis. To this union they were blessed with two children, Tom and Faye. Together, Mary and Edwin farmed west of Canby and raised their children. He raised registered polled Herefords and hogs. For a few years, he also raised and sold chihuahua puppies in the Chicago area.

Edwin enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting. For a few years after they were married, Ed enjoyed flying in his airplane, an Aronca 7AC Champion. He was handy with making things and made a lot of the things he needed on the farm. After he retired from farming, he started wood working and made several wood projects. He built his own lumber mill to cut lumber for his projects.He gave away many of his wood projects to family and friends.

He is survived by his brother Henry; sisters, Nina and June; son, Tom and his wife Christina; daughter, Faye; and grandson Mason.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Annie;  sisters, Evelyn and Pearl; brothers, Ivan, Daniel, Lester, and Theodore; and his wife, Mary Ann (Moe) Fairchild.
