Steven Nichols

Steven John Nichols, 63, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022.

Steve was born in Canby, Minn., November 21, 1958, to John Orin (Jack) and Marilyn Anne (Aure) Nichols of Canby, Minn. He graduated from Canby High School in 1977 and went on to earn his diesel technology degree from Alexandria Technical and Community College, Alexandria, Minn.

Steve was employed as a diesel mechanic. He worked at Judd Brown Construction, Lockheed, UPS, and Herzog throughout his career.  Steve recently retired in November 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Nichols, in January, 2021.

He is survived by his partner, Leeann Joseph; sisters, Michelle (Brent) Kaufman, Mary Kay (Brian) Hoffman of Mankato, Minn., Patty Nichols (David Snyder) of Savage, Minn., Judy (Scott) Turner of Aitkin, Minn; nieces, Sarah (Ryan) Venci, Kaylee (Jarrod) Hajek of Nashville, TN, Gina Turner of Fargo, N.D., and Jessica (Tyler) Campbell of California; nephew, John Turner of Palisade, Minn., Ryan (Loren) Nichols, and Russell (JJ) Nichols; great nephews, Matthew, Noah, McCoy, and Ronan, Jackson and Mason all of Texas; great nieces, Arabella, Marissa, Allie; great-great niece Aaliyah of Las Vegas, NV; and sister-in-Law, Gail Nichols.

Steve will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his kind heart. He enjoyed working on his Harley Davidson and other motorcycles, playing with his dogs, going to the VFW, cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and accompanying his dad to the World War II 6th Bomb Group Army reunions. Steve’s Dad passed away in 2002. Steve still continued to attend the reunions to help the elderly Veterans navigate and enjoy the reunion. A son of one the veterans told the family, “Steve treated my dad like gold at reunions.”

In the end only kindness matters.

A private family service will take place in Canby, Minn., at a later date.

In lieu of memorials, please consider donating to his dad’s World War II 6th Bomb Group, a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization. Donations will be used to further the advancement of their website as well as to continue their scholarship fund for descendants of the 6th Bomb Group.
