Venus Migallos-Shackelton

The family of Venus Priscilla Migallos-Shackelton bids farewell to their loving sister, aunt, and niece. Venus, age 73, of Canby, MN, entered her eternal life on Palm Sunday, April 10, 2022, in her home.

At a time of grief and loss, her friends and family are cordially invited to gather for a funeral service on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Canby, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at the city cemetery. The service will be live streamed and can be viewed at the church website, oslcanby.org.

Before her sunset years in the United States, Venus spent a good part of her life in the Philippines, where she was born. She used to bring presents of any kind to her siblings, other family members and friends whenever she would visit them at their homes. While still living in the Philippines, Venus married her first husband, Albert Pacoy which was a 40 year relationship. Following Albert’s death, Venus met Roger Shackelton online. Roger visited Venus several times in the Philippines and eventually Venus came to the United States and she and Roger were married on January 8, 2010.

Venus was a very kind and generous person. Venus was the caregiver to anyone who needed help but did not want anyone to bother with her. She was very pleasant and cheerful up to the days shortly before the angels came down and carried her away. Venus, also known as ‘Baby’ to her kin/friends in the Philippines, had a short and courageous battle with cancer. Venus had full confidence that this cancer would be cured and her life of helping others would continue along with her desire to crochet anything and everything for the people she had love for and also people who were unfamiliar to her. Whenever someone in Canby was ill, she would immediately crochet them a beautiful prayer shawl. Some families received two, one for the wife and one for the husband. She was always willing to give of herself by helping with quilting or bringing food to Our Saviour’s Lutheran functions. Many people were gifted with her talent of crocheting which she started at the age of eight years old.

She loved Canby and her family at Our Saviour’s. Rest well with the angels, sweet Venus. You were loved by many and will be missed.

Venus is survived by her siblings, Fely, Susan, Elmer, Hector, and Belen. Although she had no children, Venus regarded her nieces and nephews as her own.
