Griffin Livermore earned the title of Spelling Bee Champion on Jan. 9 as fifth through eighth grades competed at the Canby Elementary School. He will continue on to the Regional Spelling Bee on Feb. 18 in Redwood Falls. If unable to attend this competition, Caleb Van Hyfte, runner-up, will take his place.
More than 3,900 students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance over the fall 2024 semester at South Dakota State University by being named to the dean's list.

Senior Aliyah Rangaard was nominated by the English department as the school’s student of the week. She is the daughter of Lori and Brian Rangaard.
“Aliyah is a positive and supportive student. She puts in effort when needed accompanied with an encouraging personality,” the department said.
For this week’s CHS Staff Spotlight, Mr. David Leppke was interviewed by Lucas Wisniewski. Mr. Leppke is an amazing teacher and makes class fun for everyone. The following Southeast Technical College students were recognized on the president's list for academic achievement during the fall 2024 semester. To be named to the president's list, students must be seeking a degree and have a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.

The University of Minnesota Crookston announced the students who were named to the fall 2024 dean's list which was recently released by the Office of the Registrar. To qualify for the dean's list, students must complete 12 or more letter-graded (A-F) credits while attaining a 3.66 grade point average.
The Canby School Board met on Monday with a long list of beginning of the year items to work through.
For this week’s CHS Staff Spotlight, Mr. Ed Watts was interviewed by Karter Potz.
Watts graduated from Los Angeles High School, graduated from Mount San Antonio Community College, and attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
