The school board was presented with possible changes to help offset the building project being over budget by $2.5 million. One proposed cut was the hallway/link between the academic side of the building and the gym. This cut could save the school $400,000.

Canby School Board approves 12 project bids, sends 12 out for rebidding, looks for project cuts

Preston Euerle with RA Morton Construction Managers attended the school board meeting on Monday, January 8, via Zoom and had a lot of information to share with board members.

Spelling Bee

Neko Cable (pictured right) was named Canby elementary’s spelling bee champion on Thursday, Jan. 11, with Zoya van Wyk as runner-up. Cable will be participating in the regional spelling bee in Redwood Falls on Feb. 6.

Ridgewater College

Representatives from Willmar visited students in Mr. John Dessonville’s class at Canby High School on Friday, Jan. 12, with six stations demonstrating career options they offer. Amy Birkland, Outreach and Admissions, (pictured above) explained to students the benefits of community college and the options available at Ridgewater.
