Dawn Tyler

Dawn Tyler, of Dawson, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 69.
A memorial service was held on Aug. 28, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson, with Rev. Kendall Stelter officiating. Interment took place at the Florida Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Canby.
Dawn Marie (Haugen) Tyler was born Sept. 16, 1955, in Dawson, Minnesota, the daughter of Arnold and Celesta (Hanson) Haugen. She was baptized and confirmed at Florida Lutheran Church. Dawn graduated from Madison High School in 1973 and then from St. Olaf College with a degree in nursing. She worked as a nurse at Johnson Memorial from 1977 until retiring in 2021. 
Dawn was united in marriage with Lowell Tyler on June 21, 1980, at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. They had two children, Matthew and William. They raised their children and enjoyed traveling. 
She liked knitting, sewing, gardening and canning. She also enjoyed to repurpose things and remodel houses. Dawn was a great cook, and she also loved baking and making lefse.
She is survived by her husband, Lowell; two sons, Matthew Tyler of Willmar and Bill (Tanya) Tyler of Dawson; a grandson, Joseph Paradis; an uncle, Roger (Patricia) Haugen; and extended family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and aunts and uncles, Reuben (Evelyn) Storlien and James (Marion) Olson.
