
Lorraine Jerzak
Lorraine Jerzak, age 85, of Canby, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Sylvan Court Nursing Home in Canby. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Canby. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 5, at the Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel in Canby with Rosary at 5 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Canby. Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel in Canby has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Lorraine Marie Jerzak was born in Tyler, Minnesota, on June 20, 1939, to John and Erma (Van Steenkiste) De Pestel. She received her holy sacraments of baptism, first communion, and confirmation at St. Cyriel & Methodius Catholic Church in Taunton, Minnesota. She attended country school at District 33 for eight years near Porter, Minnesota, and she graduated high school in Morris, Minnesota, from West Central School of Agriculture in 1957.
On September 4, 1957, Lorraine was united in marriage to Emmett Jerzak at St. Cyriel & Methodius Catholic Church. After they were married, they lived on the family farm near Ivanhoe where she helped with all the farm work alongside her husband.
They moved to Canby in 1962, and in 1965 they were blessed with their son Todd James. Lorraine worked at John Swenson Memorial Hospital for 25 years as a nurse’s aid. In 1978, Lorraine went to work at Paulson Drug, now Canby Drug and Gift, and retired in 2013 after 35 years of service.
Lorraine enjoyed volunteering whenever and wherever she could. She was a taxi for many people throughout the years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and the CCW.
Grateful for having shared Lorraine’s life is her son, Todd, and Tracy Jerzak of Rochester, Minnesota; one granddaughter, Karlee Jerzak of Plymouth, Minnesota; her siblings: Richard (Sharon) De Pestel of Utica, Minnesota, Dorothy (Dave) Algyer of Tracy, Minneosta, James (Lana) De Pestel of Canby and Carol (Joey) Johnson of Walnut Grove, Minnesota; along with three nieces, six nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Erma De Pestel, and her husband, Emmett Jerzak.
