Kenneth Evjen

Kenneth Harold Evjen Jr. passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 6, surrounded by friends and family. He was 73 years old and was on hospice care.

He was born in Clarkfield, Minn., to parents Kenneth H. Evjen Sr. and Elizabeth “Irene” Evjen (Johnson). He graduated from Canby High School in 1970.

He is survived by his children, Megan P. Evjen and Ryan A. Evjen; and his siblings, Darlene Ufkin and Kevin (Belinda) Evjen. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Donna MacArthur and Deborah Rieter.

Ken enjoyed hunting, listening to music and working on his yard.

After 50 years of farming, Ken retired in the fall of 2024 at the age of 71. During the last couple of years, Ken spent his retirement attending to the yard, cleaning out the old grove, bird watching, enjoying sunrises and sunsets and photography. Ken took much pride in the farm and the work he had done.

Ken was buried at Wegeland Cemetery on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Family and friends gathered at the farm afterward to socialize. He will be greatly missed by friends, neighbors and family. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, Minn., was in charge of the arrangements.
