Bill Natte

Bill Natte, age 71, of St. Leo, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Memorial service took place May 29 at the Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel in Canby, Minnesota, with inurnment at the St. Leo Catholic Cemetery in St. Leo, Minnesota. Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel in Canby was entrusted with the arrangements.
William Leo Natte was born on October 15, 1953, in Slayton, Minnesota, to parents, Christian and Hattie (Goettig) Natte. He was an only child and was raised on the family farm near Chandler, Minnesota. He graduated from high school and then attended Canby VoTech in the welding program. Bill worked for Schwan’s for 20 years and then for Project Turnabout for 10 years until he retired. On September 29, 1973, Bill was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Eischens at the St. Leo Catholic Church and to this union they were blessed with one son, Chris.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing, camping or riding motorcycle and throwing bean bags. Playing cards was also an enjoyment, especially a good game of Buck or Texas Hold’em, and was something he enjoyed so much that he even taught his family how to play so they could all play together. Time spent with his family and friends, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was something he treasured dearly.
He is survived by his son, Chris (Kris) Natte of Luverne, Minnesota; seven grandchildren: Samantha Zahnow of Luverne, William Natte (Molly) of Bloomington, Minnesota, Calley Petersen of Goodwin, South Dakota, Genevieve Natte of Marshall, Minnesota, Dalton Petersen of Goodwin, Samantha Natte of Luverne, and Abygail Petersen of Luverne; two great-grandchildren: Jasiah Natte and Gracelyn Petersen; in-laws: Leonard (Linda) Eischens, Larry (Florence) Eischens, Dennis (Judy) Eischens, Roger (Lori) Eischens, JoAnn Downing, Cindy (Mike) Sanow, Ronald (Jackie) Eischens, Allan (Robin) Eischens, Daryl (Cindy) Eischens, and Doug (Janine) Eischens; brother-in-law, Ron Sussner; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; uncle, Arnt Natte; brother-in-law, Greg Downing; sister-in-law, Shirley Sussner; and nephew, Brandon Eischens.
