Dean Crowley

ean J. Crowley, 73, of Canby, Minn., passed away July 14, 2026, at Franklin Restorative Care Center in Franklin, Minn., after his battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Dean had requested a private memorial service with his immediate family. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, is entrusted with the arrangements.

Dean was born Nov. 11, 1952, in Slayton, Minn., to Clem and Alvina Crowley. He grew up in Iona, Minn. After graduating from Slayton High School, Dean furthered his education at Minnesota West in Canby for auto mechanics. He worked at the Ford Garage in Canby and then for Canby Public Schools as a bus driver, bus mechanic and groundskeeper. He retired in 2013. In his spare time, he volunteered with the Canby Fire Department for 20 years. While on the department, he served as a training officer, captain and relief association secretary. He enjoyed tinkering on vehicles, especially his ‘38. He won many trophies at various car shows with his car. He loved bowling, gardening, grilling, John Wayne, ‘70s music and relaxing outdoors in his chair.

On April 1, 1994, Dean married Linda Jo in Hanley Falls, Minn., and they resided in Canby.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Jo; five children: Troy Adkison of Ottertail, Minn.; Marcus (Jenny) Adkison of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Karla (Jeff) Mallery of Shafer, Minn.; Jill (Adam) Grengs of Canby; and John (Amanda) Crowley of Canby; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and seven siblings.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Alvina; mother-in-law, Helen; brother, Neal; sister-in-law, Patti; and brother-in-law, Larry.
