George Potz

George L. Potz, age 74, of Canby, Minn., passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, at the Sanford Canby Medical Center in Canby. Funeral service were held Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025, at Nicolai Lutheran Church in Canby. Burial will be in the St. Stephen's Cemetery, Canby. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, was entrusted with the arrangements.
George Lloyd Potz was born to Clarice Oles on Dec. 11, 1950, in Mankato, Minn.. Clarice married Ted Fairchild in August 1960 when George was nine years old. George grew up on the family farm and attended Canby High School where he graduated in 1970.
George was united in marriage to Cindy Alfson on Nov. 4, 1972, at Nicolai Lutheran Church in Canby. They raised their family in the Canby and Porter area where George worked as a mechanic and welder. George passed away at the Sanford Canby Medical Center on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, after years of battling COPD and its complications at the age of 74. 
He routinely enjoyed his early morning coffee visits in Porter and Gary.
George is lovingly remembered by his wife, Cindy Potz; four children: Stacie (Scott) Dohlmann, Travis (Tonya) Potz, Angela (Jeffery) Johnson, and Karen Potz; 14 grandchildren: Alanna (special friend Craig) Huston, Lucas (Gladys) Dohlmann, Zachary Dohlmann, Hailee (Dylan) Rickenbaugh, Cheyanne Dohlmann, Sophia Fluit, Shania Huston, Sierra Potz, Mason Potz, Tyler Hiedeman, Ryan Hiedeman, Blake Hiedeman, Hannah Hiedeman, and Karter Potz; and great-grandson, Colson Rickenbaugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Clarice Fairchild; and grandson, Levi Hansen.
