Robert Eilers

Robert A. Eilers, age 91, of Canby, Minn., passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, at Antelope Hills Christian Church in Canby with Rev. Leroy Hopper officiating. Burial will be in the Canby City Cemetery, Canby. Visitation will be 4:30-7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby and will resume Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Robert Arthur Eilers was born August 23, 1933, in Revillo, S.D., to Sieben and Nettie (Fricka) Eilers. He was raised on various farms in the Canby area. Following his education, he began farming on his own near Canby.
Robert was united in marriage to Wanda Thorpe on Sept. 5, 1958, in Canby. The couple made their home on a farm near Canby where they raised their family. They moved into Canby, and Robert later retired from farming but continued to help his grandsons with their farming.
He was a member of Full Gospel Assembly Church in Canby where he served on the church board. Robert also served on the Farmers Coop Board in Canby. He enjoyed driving in the country to check on the crops. With his strong Christian faith, he touched the lives of many throughout the years and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. 
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Wanda Eilers; four daughters, Lori (Robert) Jelen, Brenda (Joe) Mamer, Karen (Duane) Ludewig, and Robin (Keith) Nuese; daughter-in-law, Jill Eilers; 12 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tim; grandson, Justin Steele; granddaughter, Brittany Jelen; siblings: Margaret Kriese, Iver Eilers, Deloris Mether, and John Eilers; and cousin, Margaret Fricka.
