Ruth Hallaway

Ruth M. Hallaway, age 76, of Faribault, Minn., passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family following an extended illness.
Ruth Marie, the daughter of Walter and Florence (Dahl) Larson was born on July 5, 1948, in Canby, Minn. She attended Canby High School and graduated with the class of 1966. 
On June 4, 1966, she was united in marriage to Francis “Butch” Hallaway. They would move to Oelwein, Iowa, where Ruth co-owned and operated Rawson Control Systems for over 30 years. Later they would move near Faribault, Minn., and had their home on Shields Lake. 
Ruth loved sewing and crocheting baby blankets for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a fantastic baker and made the best bread, buns, and jam. She was a member of the Oelwein American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Francis “Butch” Hallaway; children, Tom (Sharon) Hallaway and Tami (Matt) Danielson; six grandchildren, Kim (Devon) Huwe, Rik (Claire) Danielson, Jakebu (Brooke) Danielson, Walker (Emee) Danielson, Riley Hallaway (Natalie Pearson), and Nolan (Rylee) Hallaway; seven great-grandchildren, Astrid, Luella, Tova, William, Winifred, Julius, and Beckham; siblings, Virginia (Greg) Brummels, John (Kathy) Larson, Mary (Dale) Homan, and Betty (Tom) Chester, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Paul Larson; nephew, Matthew John Larson; many brothers and sisters-in-law and niece.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 20, from 4-6 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault with a prayer service and time of sharing at 6 p.m. 
A Celebration of Life will also be held on Saturday, March 22, from 1-3 p.m. at the Houseman Funeral Home in Canby with a prayer service and time of sharing at 3 p.m.
