Scott Dressen

Scott “Scotty” Dressen, age 67, of Canby, Minnesota, passed away at his REM home on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, at the Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel in Canby with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at the Canby City Cemetery in Canby. Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel of Canby has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Scott Francis Dressen, born January 24, 1958, at Wainright Army Hospital, Fairbanks, Alaska. 
Scott was the second child of Milo E. and Darlene A. Dressen, while Milo was stationed at Ft. Greely, Alaska. He spent most of his life with REM in Canby. He attended school in Canby. 
He loved to ride his bicycle and go bowling. He loved to go swimming and show off his muscles to the pretty girls. And yes, every pretty girl he saw, he would say, “That’s my girlfriend” and get the biggest smile. His favorite TV shows were “The Dukes of Hazzard” and “Walker Texas Ranger”. For 13 years in a row, he went trick-or-treating as “Walker Texas Ranger”. He wore his cowboy hat everywhere he went. His favorite color was blue. He loved to draw, and he would draw pictures of his favorite people and cars, especially the General Lee. He loved the Minnesota Vikings and going to Minneapolis to watch the Twins play baseball. He collected numerous football jerseys. The more colorful the better. He liked to go fishing and always wanted to “go on a trip”. And, boy howdy, did he love to shop! Shopko was his favorite store. If you took Scotty shopping, he would fill the basket with “that’s my favorite”, didn’t matter if it was candy, cookies, soda pop, or anything else, it was his favorite. 
Scott had the most infectious smile and gave big hugs. While at REM he became one of their most requested car washers. His attention to detail and thoroughness was impeccable. Many people would show up to get their car washed, and if they found out Scott wasn’t there that day, they would say, “I’ll be back when he’s here.” Scotty, you have left a legacy here in Canby that will be hard to match. 
Scott is survived by his mother, Darlene, in Oklahoma; his brother, Michael, and his wife, Anna, along with their son, Donald, in Anchorage, Alaska. He is also survived by his sister, Leslie, and her children, daughter, Ellexis, and son, Levi, who is married to Candice, both from Oklahoma. 
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Milo E. (Mike) Dressen.
