Orval B. Gubrud, age 84, of Canby, Minn., passed away Friday, Dec. 26, 2025, at his home in Canby. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at Nicolai Lutheran Church in Canby. Burial will be in the Canby City Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Thursday, Jan.
Cynthia “Cindy” Barbara Kockelman, of Shakopee, Minn., passed away at the age of 59 on Dec.18, 2025, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. Born on July 8, 1966, Cindy grew up on the family farm outside of St. Leo, Minn., with her parents and four siblings.
Lois Elaine Houge, age 93, of Burnsville, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Duane “Dewey” Arnold Sundin, age 88, died Dec. 11, 2025, at Benedictine Living Community, St. Peter, Minnesota, where he has been living with his wife, Ruth Sundin. Funeral services will be planned after the holidays.
Rick Winter, age 70, of rural Canby, Minnesota passed away on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025 at his home. Funeral service was held Dec. 5 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Canby with burial at Terrace Lawn Memory Garden Cemetery in Montevideo, Minnesota. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel of Canby was entrusted with arrangements.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Canby, Minnesota, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Minneota, Minneota.
Shirley Pederson, age 74, of Gary, South Dakota, passed away surrounded by her family after battling cancer on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, at the Hendricks Community Hospital Nursing Home. Funeral service took place Saturday, Nov. 22, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gary with burial in the Grandview Cemetery in Gary.
Duane Wallert, age 87, of Canby, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, at the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield, Minnesota. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, at the First Presbyterian Church in Canby. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov.
LaVern Elmer Kuester, of Canby, Minnesota, died on Nov. 6, 2025, in Canby. He reached the age of 82 years, 5 months and 5 days. A private internment will take place at a later date. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby is entrusted with the arrangements.
