Peggy Ann Athman, 65, of Shell Lake passed away Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023, peacefully at her home. She was born February 22, 1958, in Marshall, Minn. to Elmer and Betty (Lund) VanMoorlehem.

Levi Douglas Anderson was born in Canby, Minn., at 3:57 p.m. on October 8, 2023, to parents Mark and Ashley (Lammers) Anderson. He was baptized in Christ the early morning of October 9. Levi passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his parents at Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., on October 9, 2023.

Paulette Dee Johnson was born July 17, 1944, to Charles and Grace (Winrow) Livermore in Canby, Minn. She attended Canby High School and graduated in 1962. She attended Moorhead State University where she earned her Secretarial Associates Degree. Paulette married Paul Johnson on July 11, 1965, at United Presbyterian Church in Canby.

Bernice Benz, age 94, of Hendricks, Minn., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023, at the Hendricks Nursing Home. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks. Burial was at the Hendricks City Cemetery. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel of Hendricks was entrusted with the arrangements.

Jason “Pidge” VanEngen, age 45, of Canby, Minn., passed away Saturday, Oct.7, 2023, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Canby High School Gymnasium with Rev. Levi Bollerud officiating. Burial will be in the Canby City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m.

Lois Ethel Beattie Mathews was born on February 25, 1926, in Canby, Minn., to her parents, Jessie and Thomas Beattie. Lois passed away on September 25, 2023, at Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

David Kenneth Denekamp, Jr, age 55, of Minneota, Minn., passed away unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, at his home.  Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gary, S.D.  Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery, Gary. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer Service at 7 p.m.

Ken Club Ken Club, of Dawson, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, at the age of 72.

A celebration of life was held on Saturday, Sept. 23, at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Pastor Kendall Stelter and Fr. Paul Timmerman.
